Field Trip Friday!

Today I had the pleasure of being an official chaperon on a field trip with Meg's class.  It was so fun to see Meg with her friends and listen to them as we drove to our destination.  Our destination was a place called the Monsanto Agronomy Center.  It was a small farm used for testing purposes and farming experimentation.  We were given a tour around the place to see a cotton picker up close and personal, watch it cut cotton and then play in the pile of cotton unloaded by the machine.  We were given the short and sweet version of their tours because our little guys only wanted to romp and jump instead of listen to facts and the latest technology of farm equipment.  Fields of soybeans, corn and peanuts were also part of the farm, but a pumpkin patch was much more the style of a Kindergartner.  So we picked another pumpkin to bring home.
Sarah Jane also came along for the ride and enjoyed her fair share of the romping and jumping and picking.  Needless to say she and I were tuckered out once we got home.  Next time, she will need to stay with Grandma or a babysitter!

This was our fearless guide.  He stood there even as the tractor pulled our trailer around the farm.  I was impressed with his balance! Oh, at that cute baby is our SJ.  Meg's teacher wanted to hold
her and I was happy to oblige.

Stomp, stomp, stomp!  SJ squealed with delight in the pile of cotton.
Do you see Meg's protective glasses?  All the children were given these
at the beginning of our tour and Meg loved her pair so much that
she didn't want to take them off!

More squealing and all the while Meg's eyes were protected!

This was the view I saw the most from SJ.  Running and exploring were
 two things on her agenda.

Another pumpkin!  And look at the little pink pumpkin on the left side of the photo...I think I'll take
her home with me!
